Sometimes it feels like there's a tension between singing explicitly about Christ and singing more general things about God (about his greatness, goodness, faithfulness, holiness, mercy, etc.). This morning I tried to make the general themes of the main opening block more specific by setting them in the context of the Gospel story in 'Far and Near. I think it worked pretty well. Each of the following songs seemed sharper.

Mark preached on Mission. I think that might have been a first play for 'For the Sake of the World' at Morning Worship in response. I didn't realise it was the first play until we were a verse into it because we've sung it quite a few times at Evening Worship. But it's a strong song and people seemed to take to it quickly.
