A rich morning. Lots of lyrical content, lots of passion and lots of laughs in the sermon.

I wanted to tell the big story of creation, fall and redemption as we led up to communion. The first four songs did a pretty good job, I think! And that was one of my favourite renditions of my 'In the silence'.

Richard Briggs was preaching on Ezra 5 and managed to make a chapter of diplomatic correspondence into one of the funniest sermons I've ever heard. And with an uplifting finish as well - "the kingdoms of the world becoming the kingdoms of our God."

I only noticed afterwards that the reponse was a little Kendrick-heavy, but those are two great modern hymns. 'I exalt thee' à la Jesus Culture ran fantastically well off the back of 'Come, let us worship Jesus'.
