A good number considering the time of year. And a baptism!

With lower numbers and smaller bands out of term-time, my setlists shift a little away from arrangement-focussed songs, and towards space for contributions. There were lots of good contributions today.

I ran the pre-chorus of 'Give thanks to the Lord' into the bridge of 'Adoration'. It's pretty much the same chords, and I had Robyn continue singing "Sing praise..." over the top of "Every soul you've saved sings out..." It worked really well!

We don't usually do baptism request songs at Kings, but made an exception today. I haven't even heard "Jesus is Lord" since I was a child, and I'm not sure we'll be picking it up as part of our regular repertoire, but we managed it.

Pete Phillips was speaking on 'living stones' from 1 Pet 2 (with visual aids including Lego and his sons standing on chairs to make an arch with a capstone!) Despite some progress over recent years, it was still really hard to plan a good set of 'we' songs to respond. Chris Tomlin's 'All to us' is a notable and increasingly over-exception.
