Sunday evening at Kings

The first Sunday evening of the academic year, and our first in Elvet Methodist.

We have a short rehearsal time in the new venue anyway, and a few technical troubles this evening meant that we were rehearsing 10 songs in 20 minutes. Needless to say it was a stress.

Other people said the meeting went fine, but I felt incredibly distracted by making the arrangements work. It surprised me how restricted I felt in actually leading worship because of having to concentrate on the music.

That's why I always encourage new worship leaders to learn the songs off by heart and how to run good rehearsals. Until you do those things you have very little capacity for leading the congregation at all.

I dare say we'll find a rhythm for these evening meetings, but there's some wrestling to be done to get there.

In the midst of a frustrating evening for me, it was good to see how well 'All The Way' went again. That's a keeper, I think.
