Palm Sunday today, which is always blended with anticipation of Good Friday for us at Kings because we don't have a Friday service.

The opening block mixed the Hosannas of the Palm Sunday crowd with astonishment at what Christ's salvation and kingship actually looked like on the cross. Perhaps that was an ambitious journey to take in four songs, but it almost worked!

'Praise is Rising' is a strong Palm Sunday song with it's chorus of "Hosanna". I gave spoken narration to shift to the scene of the cross in 'Here is Love, Vast as the Ocean' but I think that transition was still a little abrupt. 'My Song is Love Unknown' perfectly unified the theme with it's reference to Palm Sunday in the verse starting "Sometimes they strew his way" and persistent meditation on the cross. (Many hymns jump so quickly ahead to the resurrection that they're hard to use immediately before Easter.)

Samuel Tedder preached on Isaiah 53 - a complete gift for a worship leader. The response songs worked well, but I was disappointed not to have time to run 'Man of Sorrows, What a Name', which would have fitted perfectly as well.

Rich preparation for Holy Week.
