Lyrics Chords

Lyrics

Worship the Lord with joyful songs of praise
Sing of his love, his everlasting grace
He is the Lord, the maker of all things
Heaven adores and all creation sings

Holy, holy, holy
God almighty
Worthy of all praise
Great in pow'r and endless glory
Worthy, worthy of all praise

Look to the one who leads us all our days
Trust in his love and follow all his ways
He is the Lord, the maker of all things
Heaven adores and all creation sings

Gladly approach his gates
Enter his courts with praise
We will rejoice and bless his name
He has been good to us
In mercy and faithfulness
We will rejoice and bless his name

Story

I came up with this chorus as a spontaneous song of praise while I was driving one afternoon, reflecting on the description of heaven's worship in Revelation 4.

I wanted to write verses that help prepare us for joining that scene, and after several different attempts decided to theme the rest of the song around one of Scripture's great calls to worship: Psalm 100.

I love the sense of dialogue in the finished song: connecting us back and forth with our heritage in the Psalms and with our destiny in Revelation.
