Sunday morning at Kings

A big drop off in numbers this morning. Uni term has finished, and I wonder how many people forgot to put their clocks forward.

I haven't led for three weeks, and I really felt it as I prepared. When I'm leading week-in week-out, there's a sense of focus that never goes away, but this week I wrestled rather frustratingly with my song choices.

I'm trying to make more space in our times of singing - both between songs and within songs. I think that's beginning to pay off, and there's now much less of a sense that we just hare through the set.

Mark preached on Leviticus 16. 'In the silence' was a good fit to begin response. I was planning to end on a rousing 'And can it be', but somehow we'd run over time.

I felt a bit out of control this morning. In one sense that's not a bad thing, but I'm not sure it's all good either.

As so often happens when I feel like I didn't lead so well, several people came up to me afterwards and said they thought it had been particularly good. Mercifully, God is well able to use our off days.
