Emphasising God's unchanging faithfulness as we reached the Exodus in our preaching series and on the day before the Uni exams began. Rich contributions in worship, and an inspiring sermon by Ian Galloway visting us from Newcastle.

Following the theme of the sermon we included the missing fourth verse of 'When I survey' as we responded:

His dying crimson like a robe
Spreads o'er his body on the tree
Now I am dead to all the globe
And all the globe is dead to me

I'm not sure why this verse is usually omitted. (Perhaps the word 'globe' is a little archaic in that context?) It's quite an important link between the ideas in the third verse "See from his head, his hands, his feet/Sorrow and love flow mingled down" and the last "Were the whole realm of nature mine".
