Oh, a gospel kind of evening! I love it when things come together like that.

Riding on the back of baptisms this morning we picked up the celebration this evening. I deliberately started 'up' and for the first three songs the whole room was almost literally jumping.

That's the first time I've led with Tim Hughes' 'Happy Day'. It really caught the spirit of things so I picked it up again to finish. I took it down from C to Bb; the verses are a little low but it's a lot more singable in the chorus.

Seymour preached on Psalm 51. Everyone felt the challenge to repentance. I began the response with Keith Green's version of that psalm as a meditation. It led beautifully to 'Love divine'. I don't think I've led with 'Love divine' before. The second verse perfectly picked up the theme, particularly the line "take away the love of sinning". I'll post my chords sometime this week.
