Still in summer-mode, keeping things lively and informal, several youth members of the band today.

We geared up to communion with solid celebration of God's generosity to us in Christ. I've almost stopped using 'I Cling' - the first song I wrote that I was really happy with. It was good to bring it out again today.

'Crowns' worked really well as a backdrop for communion. I stripped back to quite a light arrangement and dropped it to E.

Ruth preached a blinder on (yep) Ruth. I had a great collection of songs up my sleeve. I had a really nice link from the hymn 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness' into 'Build My Life' prepped, but unfortunately we ran out of time. Deep stuff, though.

I think that's my first time leading 'Build My Life'. I haven't felt totally convinced by it, to be honest. The verses and bridge feel a little unfocussed. But the bridge is just SO good. In the right context, like today, it absolutely soars.
