Sunday morning at Kings

Slightly chaotic this morning. Two string breaks crowned a variety of mishaps, but it was a good meeting.

The string breaks occurred just at the end of 'O for a thousand tongues'. It's a reasonably common occurrence, so I just encouraged the congregation to read psalms and pray prayers while I made the change. Unfortunately just as I was winding the new string on, that one broke as well, and I didn't have another replacement so I had to wind the ball back on to the broken string. Which is rather time consuming!

In all I was probably away from the mic for nearly 10 minutes. But people stepped up with excellent contributions, even starting a couple of a cappella songs. As I often say, it's not a bad thing that the normal rhythm gets broken up now and again.

I had monitor troubles (of my own making) as I got up to lead the response block, but again everything was fine.

I don't think I've ever felt so at ease with what was a pretty chaotic morning. I didn't get distracted by any of it. I'm more and more convinced that the simple depth of encouraging people to worship God each week is the whole task of worship leading.
