Summer Sundays can be a little sleepy, but I led for active engagement this morning, and it really clicked.

There was a thread running through the whole set that we should stir our souls to worship. That theme fits pretty well with our current sermon series on the letters to the churches in Revelation.

It's great to get on to a sermon series where I can simply present Christ as the explicit focus of our worship. It feels a but more of a jump to sing about Jesus (as opposed to 'God' or 'the Lord') around sermons on Old Testament books. We obviously do sing about Jesus every Sunday, but a series on Revelation encourages that as a strong emphasis.

Paul Jones was preaching on the the letter to the church in Ephesus, which contains the line "Repent and do the things you did at first". Although it was the third Matt Redman song of the morning, I began the response with 'When my heart runs dry', which is based on that passage. It's the first time I've led the song at Kings. It worked very well with the meditative end to the sermon.

'Forever reign' and 'All to us' rounded the morning off very well, interspersed with some good contributions. The band sounded great. An excellent morning!
