Online Worship with Kings

Online again. This time I specifically mentioned those following live on Facebook and YouTube, because the comments sections last week were one of the best bits about being online. even more people joined in posting Scriptures and prayers this week. You have to balance focus on the comments with singing along with the songs, but the overall experience is rich, communal and much deeper than I anticipated.

We're still singing public domain and my songs as we sort licensing. But once again, the YouTube video got copyright claimed. This time for the well-out-of-copyright melody of 'It Is Well'. I dread to think what's going to happen once we start using actually copyrighted material next week. I think I need to start a database of how each rights holder handles their songs on YouTube.

'It Is Well' had such powerful resonance this morning.

Because of the new restrictions on gathering, I wasn't able to sit in on the sermon before I recorded the response song this week. We've got to step up our communication. Not having quite the right song is a minor hitch in live gathered worship, but feels very exposed indeed in a pre-recorded video online.

We're still figuring out the technicalities of getting our videos onto Facebook at the right time, so it's still a bit stressful in the run up to a meeting. But overall, I like this. There's a real sense of the church gathering to worship.
