  • [E] Great is your faithfulness - Chris Tomlin

We've added a livestreamed evening service to the prerecorded morning service. Different things are possible with each, so it makes sense to do both. The prerecorded service involves a huge amount of additional production work during the week. Livestreaming is relatively straightforward.

I led tonight with Hannah joining on backing vocals. It makes such a difference having an extra voice.

We're streaming over Zoom. I'm using a Scarlett 2i4 audio interface to take one condenser mic and the output of my guitar. The sound is very decent, although tonight I noticed a song and a half in that I hadn't hit the 'Use Orginal Sound' button in Zoom which stops the software from trying to filter out music. That was annoying! It sounds a bit like a soup if you don't use that setting.

I'm getting used to leading worship over Zoom now. Personally it's not too weird an experience. We're trying to encourage people to bring usual contribution of prayers and Scripture reading via the chat, but that will take a bit of work to set the culture.

I'm very conscious as I'm leading that on the receiving end, it's just you by yourself singing along to the sound of me singing and playing guitar. Although we can see everyone's faces, you don't get the sound of the congregation, so I approach some of the practicalities as I would if I were leading just one person in worship at their home. I keep keys fairly low and always stick to the melody.

Mark preached from Revelation 5, so I couldn't really not use 'Is He Worthy?' even though that's new to Kings.
