Sunday morning at Kings

My first time leading for six weeks! My son was born at the beginning of July. That's probably the longest break I've had for ten years.

I taught 'Bless the Lord' from Matt Redman's new album '10,000 Reasons'. It has a great congregational chorus, and although the verse melodies are a little irregular I think people got it.

There are a couple of others I'll pick up from that album too - it's worth checking out if you haven't heard it.

I always like it when the song titles in my set read like a psalm themselves. The first five songs this morning worked well:

Come, let us worship Jesus
Praise him, you heavens
Join all the glorious names
Bless the Lord, O my soul
I will worship

Our passage this morning was 1 Thess 2 which doesn't lead very directly to a musical response. 'We have known forgiveness' was almost right, but I floundered a little. After some good contributions we got on track with 'Surrender'.

I discovered after the meeting that I've been singing the melody for 'Join all the glorious names' slightly wrong!
