The centenary of the Armistice, and a sermon on Daniel 7. That's a fairly potent mix from the off.

We always sing 'Crown Him' on Remembrance Sunday. Our cry is for the Kingdom of everlasting peace. The verse starting "Crown him the Lord of peace" expresses it eloquently. We then sang of our eternal hope and God's power to accomplish it.

As we headed towards the two minutes of silence, we used the new hymn 'Hope For The World's Despair' which won the Jubilate 'Hymns of Peace' competition this year. The words explore the themes of civic Remembrance from a thoroughly Christian perspective. The tune is 'Love Unknown' so everyone could join in without learning. It was a fitting moment.

Tim then preached on the incredible apocalyptic vision of Daniel 7. The themes connected wonderfully, and we responded celebrating the eternal kingdom. 'Ancient of Days' and 'And He Shall Reign' absolutely flew. There was almost dancing in aisles - a rare sight these days.

People brought testimonies and other contributions exploring our personal responses. The atmosphere during the last two songs was very powerful.

Let these meditations manifest themselves in our lives!
