A small gathering two days before Christmas. We took communion together so it was a mix of themes.

We started the main block with 'Tell out my soul' which is based on Mary's song in Luke 1, into a first appearance for Graham Kendrick's 'He walked'.

I love Matt Redman's 'O Jesus, son of God'. It's not completely straightforward for a congregation to sing, but the lyrics are so perfect leading up to Christmas.

'Hallelujah, my Father' was very effective as a meditation before communion, bringing together the themes of incarnation and atonement. 'From the squalor' worked well for that too.

We sang the additional choruses ("For he alone is worthy" and "We'll give him all the glory") at the end of 'O come all ye faithful', which transitioned nicely into 'This is my desire'.

All round a stirring lead into Christmas.
