No hint of Advent at Kings today. We concluded our sermon series on Colossians and celebrated communion, drawing on themes of what God has done for us.

That's the first time I've led 'Great Things'. Some of our team have been leading it in the evenings. It's a solid song. We need more uptempo stuff, and this one has some great lyrics of freedom. 'What can I do' was a nice link, and into 'When I survey'.

I didn't quite have the right songs for response, which was more focussed on encouraging one another in the faith, rather than Christ as the centre of faith as I had prepped. It's always a bit frustrating when what you've planned is out of step with what's required. Perhaps I should have just picked different songs and hoped the band would follow along. All fine, though.

I was feeling a bit like I'd missed it after the service, but as so often happens when I feel like that, several people from the congregation came to say how much they appreciated how we led. God's grace to me manifested through my brothers and sisters in the Church.
