I feel like there have been too many times over recent months when planning Sunday worship involves careful consideration of how to address difficult world events. Again today.

Other than avoiding 'It Is Well' (look up the last lines!), that mainly took the form of affirming our allegiance to Christ as Lord rather than any nation or political system. (Not a bad thing for the Christian community to do on any given Sunday!) I went for a strong opening run of songs focussing on Christ as King, with a minor theme of his care for us in troubled times.

Tim preached on the Damascus Road, and not making assumptions about who God can or can't use. That challenge felt very pertinent to our times, but I focussed the response on the possibility of personal and corporate transformation by the grace of God. Many spoken contributions in response again.
