An incredibly rich Carol Service, with an 8-piece brass band, a harp and a choir joining us, and video and drama in the mix.

This year we emphasised the prophecies of Jesus' birth in the Old Testament, which skewed my carol choices quite heavily.

Each year I choose one carol to spend time with for my own devotion. This time, 'O Come, O Come Emmanuel'. I came up with a very nice pedalling acoustic guitar arrangement and built everything for the service up from there. The harp really came into its own. The brass was smouldering. I wish I could post a recording of what we came up with, but alas!

We used Page CXVI's arrangement of 'Come Thou Long Expected Jesus'. I had a go at running it two weeks ago and it didn't quite click so I was a little nervous about it, but Sarah one of our interns wrote brass and choir parts for it and it really sounded great this morning.

All our other arrangements were pretty Kings standard. 'Angels From The Realms' always rocks and 'Hark The Herald' always takes the roof off.

Every year feels like the best ever, but this surely was! The standard of the brass playing and choir was fantastic. And the harp just elevated everything.

We took our annual Christmas jumper photo after the service. Overall, an absolute feast of music, arts, community, and celebration of the most profound reality: God is with us!

For the first time ever, we're running the same service again this evening. Here we go...
