I love it when it goes like that! We're at the lowest ebb of our quietest month but I really knew what I was doing this morning.

'O for a thousand tongues' flowed perfectly into 'Bless the Lord' both musically and thematically, and then we carried on up to 'All my days'.

I found it hard to respond to 1 Thessalonians last week, but this week it really clicked. 'God in my living' was a good place to start and we focussed on Jesus as the ground for living a Godly life.

It felt like every song was specifically the right one to sing as we responded, particularly 'All to us'. The chorus of that song with the line "Let the saving love of Christ be the measure of our lives" is a really fantastic addition to our worshipping vocabulary.

'May the words of my mouth' drew all the themes together beautifully and sent us out with purpose.

August is always quite a hazy holiday month, and I did feel like I was challenging us to engage a little more intensely than we would have done naturally.

I wouldn't want to stretch the congregation every week, but it's not a bad thing if worship sometimes has a cost (the model is sacrifice, after all!) Today it felt right to lead with that challenge.
