Out of term time now so smaller numbers. We lose a bit of energy, but gain space in every sense of the word.

This morning I was thinking about the freshness of God's love to us every day. If we're not careful, singing the story of the Gospel can feel stale, but God's love for us never becomes stale or rote. The reality behind the Gospel is as fresh and life-changing for us today as it ever was.

Paul J spoke on hunger for God. I led a response of longing. Those songs are quite subjective, but I think it's possible to sing them even if you're not feeling those exact feelings. One way is to sing in solidarity with those who are. Another is to think of it as teaching your soul to worship in and out of season. And another is to use the song as a starting point for praying or singing something that's more true to your current experience.

I'm going to write more about that sometime, I think...
