Let The Earth Find Rest
Lyrics
As the seeds are planted,
let them yield a harvest,
when the crops are gathered:
let the earth find rest.
As the workers labour,
they deserve their wages,
let them feast with gladness:
let the earth find rest.
Let the earth find rest
as the Lord provides,
till the day of perfect peace;
for the Lord is good
and his love endures
and his mercies never cease.
When the wealthy prosper,
may their hearts be generous,
let them hate injustice:
let the earth find rest.

Story
When we started writing for the Resound Worship Doxecology album, Joel gave each of us a Scripture prompt and challenged us to come up with a song for the theme. I got Leviticus 25, which describes the Sabbath and Year of Jubilee.
I was struck by the way that passage brings worship and obedience and justice towards the poor and right treatment of the earth together in one celebration of trust in God. So I decided to write this joyful protest song.
