It’s been quite a prolific songwriting year for me. Here’s a roundup of the ones that have made it out into the world…
Behold the Glories of the Lamb (Worthy)
A new tune and new refrain for Isaac Watts’ great manifesto for new hymnwriting. Written as part of 12 Song Challenge in 2024, I recorded this version in my kitchen to add to the 12SC yearbook in January 2025.
Spirit, You’re Here
Co-written with Rebecca Beese, packing in as much of the theology of the Holy Spirit from Romans 8 as we could. Recorded by Resound Worship in late 2024, and released in February 2025 as part of the Spirit Songs EP.
All Our Voices
Our current project at Resound is ‘Community Songs’, looking to write simpler songs that are more about the people singing than the song itself. You can read more about our journey here. I wrote this very simple song with Rebecca Beese, James Martin and Joel Payne at a retreat in February. We recorded it at Wydale Hall in the summer. Released in October as part of Community Songs Vol.I.
God Who Makes Us Family
Another simple song of mine from Community Songs Vol.I. The Wydale recording feels most like how I actually lead worship of anything I’ve ever put out into the world.
Emmanuel (God is with us in our sorrow)
Written as part of the 12 Song Challenge in December, and recorded with Hannah as we were packing to go away for Christmas. It’s been a tough year for me in many ways, and for lots of people around me. This is an attempt to make sense of carrying grief into the joy of Christmas.
