We Will Trust in God Our Saviour (God Almighty)
Lyrics
We will trust in God our Saviour
God our refuge, God our peace
We will shelter in your unchanging love
For your goodness is a fortress
Great in mercy, strong in grace
In our weakness we will look to you, Lord
  God Almighty, God eternal
You are faithful, you are true
  Never ending, never failing
God of all, we look to you
You have promised to defend us
Through the battle, through the storm
We will hold on to your unchanging word
  For your hope is everlasting
  And your purpose ever sure
In our weakness we will look to you, Lord

Story
I was looking for an anthem of trust in the Lord using 'we' instead of 'I'. I couldn't find anything so I wrote this.
The chorus clicked early on, but it took several months and a lot of rewrites for the verses. I'm pleased with what I came up with in the end. The verses parallel one another in structure and the last line of each verse - emphasising our weakness - leads into 'God Almighty' - emphasising his strength.
I recorded the song for my 2014 EP 'Songs of Everlasting Hope'.
