Story

At the beginning of 2017, Joel at RESOUNDworship challenged us to write for the different elements of Sunday services. I decided to work on a simple song to help prepare a congregation to hear Scripture or a sermon.

The essence of the song is a call that the Holy Spirit would "guide us into all truth" as Jesus promised in John 16:13.

The lyrics reference several images from Scripture about how we should receive the Word: as daily bread, as truth, as life, as a light for our path, as transforming power, as promises from God, and as a foundation for faith.

While the focus of the song is on the read and preached Word, the song is also useful for encouraging and focusing the broader range of ways in which God speaks to us.
